Statement of Claim

If someone owes you money and you have tried to resolve the matter without going to court and the other party still wont pay the money owed, then you may file a statement of claim in the court. The statement of claim starts a court case.

A statement of claim is a court document that sets out how much or what the other party claims you owe them and why they are making the claim.

If you are been served with a Statement of Claim then a defence or a cross claim can be filed.
